A short time ago a 7.8 magnitude earthquake
struck in the middle of the afternoon in Central China. Trembles were felt as far away as Shanghai, Beijing and Bangkok, Thailand. Over 9000 people are estimated to have died and many more are trapped in fallen buildings. 80% of the building at the epicenter collapsed.
Schools and business were among the buildings downed, in during the busiest time of day. The BBC (link above) has a detailed article, which I’ve posted below.. Following that are links to geological maps and earthquake reporting sites.
